CFM

How much CFM do I need?

CFM stands for cubic feet per minute. The higher the number, the greater amount of air that is exhausted using your vent hood. It is recommended that you add 100 CFM for every 10,000 BTUs that your cooking equipment produces. For a 60,000 BTU grill, you would need a 600 CFM blower.

It should also be considered that if you are using an inline blower or an external blower mounted to an exterior wall or roof, that you made need a more powerful blower, with a higher CFM, because of the distance away from the cooking area that the blower is. For maximum performance, keep the duct straight and short, using the fewest turns possible. 45° turns are better than 90° turns.
